Celebrating 16 Years of Rescue: Hunter’s Journey and a Birthday Wish
It’s a momentous month here at Brittany Rescue in Texas! This July, we are celebrating two very special occasions: the birthday of our wonderful founder, Pattie, and the official 16th anniversary of BRIT, which was founded on July 10, 2010.
To honor Pattie’s incredible legacy, she has set a special birthday fundraising goal this year: $1,600, representing exactly $100 for every single year BRIT has been dedicated to saving lives.
To show you exactly what your support makes possible, we want to take you behind the scenes of a recent rescue loop. Meet Hunter.
A Sudden Turn of Events
Just a couple of weeks ago, Hunter’s owners reached out to us. Things had suddenly changed in their lives, and they had to make the heartbreaking, incredibly difficult decision to rehome their beloved family pet. They were devastated, but Pattie stepped in to guide them through the process, reassuring them and promising that BRIT would find Hunter the absolute perfect forever home.
During that initial intake, Pattie used her vital “one-shot” opportunity to gather detailed information about Hunter’s background, routines, and training. We learned that he is an incredibly friendly 5-year-old boy who is housebroken, crate-trained, and even trained to point and retrieve quail!
The 24/7 Loop of Care
Running a state-wide rescue means managing a non-stop puzzle of logistics. Within mere hours of that initial call, our incredible volunteer transport network swung into motion to bring Hunter to safety.
To give you an idea of what Pattie juggles daily, she is currently managing 5 different dogs, each at a completely different stage of their rescue journey—from intake and vetting to matching them with the perfect foster care. In rescue, you truly never know what the next phone call will bring!
A Milestone in Sight
Hunter was recently posted on our website, and your incredible responsiveness blew us away—within just two hours, the adoption applications already started rolling in!
As we look through his applications and coordinate with his future foster family, Hunter’s journey is paving the way toward a monumental milestone. To date, BRIT has saved 995 Brittanys. That means we are officially just 5 dogs away from saving our 1,000th Brittany!
Pattie’s thorough vetting process, dedicated foster network, and attentive post-adoption follow-up care have resulted in an unmatched success rate over the last 16 years.
