UPDATE 4-18-12: Dixie has settled into her great foster home. She just had surgery to remove some fatty tissues lumps (lipomas) and they were not cancerous. She has lost quite a few pounds and is looking quite svelte (and ever more beautiful). She still doesn’t like change much and definitely needs the security of someone who will be at home with her – someone who is retired would be perfect. She gets along great with her foster Brittanys brothers and sister.
I’m Dixie – so glad to be here with BRIT after a very scary visit to this place called “The Shelter.” Am I ever glad to be out of there! My story, while all too frequent these days, is sad. I was living a very happy life with my beloved owner and his mother. Suddenly, she had to go to this place called a “nursing home” and my Dad thought he could take me to live with him in his new place. Very sadly he realized that where he was going next on his life journey, was not a place that I could go too. He said it broke his heart, but he took me to the shelter. I kept hearing the people at the shelter saying how full they were and they looked at me with sad eyes. Oh, the terror and confusion is awful!
But, they say when one door closes, another opens. Here I am, getting settled in my foster home, positive that the scary days are behind me and my new friends will find me the perfect furever home! My new friends want to share some information about me and I hope that YOU will think of me when you are looking for a great girl to call your own!
Isn’t Dixie a beauty? This mature girl is very frightened right now. In a few days as she starts to relax we’ll have updates! We do know at this time she is 8 years old (according to her Dad). She is quite over weight and really does need to take some of those extra pounds off. She is reported to be a happy, loving, and affectionate girl. Stand by for more information as we get to know sweet Dixie! Check for updates on our Facebook page!!!
