This sweet Brittany, who was once on death’s door, has not only defied expectations but has now found her forever home with the very person who helped her heal: her amazing foster mom, Jenny!

Maggie’s Miraculous Transformation
When Maggie first came to us, she was in dire straits. Severely overweight and unable to walk due to lack of muscle strength and torn ligaments, she also carried the heavy burden of past trauma, exhibiting signs of PTSD. One shelter veterinarian even recommended euthanasia. But Maggie had a fighting spirit, and we knew we had to give her every chance.
And what a chance she took!
- Mobility Improvements:
Maggie, who couldn’t walk on her own just months ago, is now walking independently! Thanks to dedicated care, gentle exercise, and consistent physical therapy, she’s gained significant muscle strength. Her mobility improves daily, a true miracle to witness. - Healthy & Happy Weight:
This determined girl has shed an incredible 19 pounds and has officially reached her ideal weight, as confirmed by Dr. Pam! This remarkable achievement has dramatically improved her comfort and ability to move freely. - Emotional Healing:
The deep-seated PTSD Maggie carried has significantly improved. She experiences fewer anxiety attacks and has truly blossomed in the safe, loving environment of her foster home, learning to trust and feel secure. - Thriving Health:
Her recent bloodwork tells an amazing story of recovery: healthier white and red blood cell counts, less elevated liver enzymes, improved calcium levels, and well-managed thyroid levels with daily medication.

A Forever Bond is Formed
Through months of tireless care, late nights, countless vet visits, and boundless patience, Maggie’s foster mom became her anchor. She saw Maggie’s spirit, even when it was buried under pain and fear. The bond they formed was undeniable, growing stronger with every small victory and every comforting cuddle. It became clear that Maggie was already home.
We are absolutely thrilled to announce that Maggie has been officially adopted by her foster mom! This beautiful adoption is the ultimate success story, fulfilling our mission to find loving, permanent homes for ALL Brittanys in need.
Our Ongoing Commitment to Maggie
As Maggie, now 10 years young, settles into her forever home, BRIT remains committed to her well-being. Just this week BRIT spent an additional $1,500 to have another emergency dental extraction, comprehensive bloodwork panel, and prescription medications.
We understand that her journey requires ongoing support, and because of the immense costs already incurred and her specific needs, BRIT has made the heartfelt decision to totally cover Maggie’s ongoing monthly care costs for the rest of her life.
This ongoing care, including vet visits, prescription medications, supplements, special food, and continued physical therapy, is estimated to be approximately $450 per month. While we’ve already invested approximately $6,500 in her initial emergency vet care, dental work, food, and treatments since December 2024, our commitment to Maggie’s happy and healthy golden years is unwavering.
Maggie’s story is a powerful reminder of why we do what we do. It’s a testament to the resilience of animals and the incredible impact of dedicated individuals and a compassionate community.
